Eileen Hoogterp

Eileen is a 1978 graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central. She received degrees from Ferris State University and Muskegon Business College (1983). Currently Eileen is the Dean of the Muskegon-Lakeshore Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and is the State of Michigan District Convener for the AGO. Eileen has studied organ under Troy Carpenter and Jonathan Tuuk and piano with Ilse Kislov. Eileen has received her handbell training and mentoring from Janet VanValey.

Eileen has served the Grand Rapids Chapter of National Pastoral Musicians (NPM) in a variety of capacities including serving on the Liturgy and Music Committee for the Regional Conventions in 1998 and 2006. Eileen has prepared and facilitated workshops for AGO and NPM regarding handbells, organ repertoire, organ-plus instruments and professional concerns. Eileen is also a member of Chorister’s Guild (CGA) and the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR).

Eileen lives in Norton Shores with her husband, Richard T. Hoogterp who is currently Director of Music at St. Pius X Parish in Grandville, Michigan and her 17-year old son, John.
